Miracle In Motion & Women's Reproduction Ultrasound

Miracle In Motion FAQ

At MIM we offer “elective” ultrasounds to the expecting population of Fort Wayne, Indiana and surrounding areas.  These ultrasounds are performed as a means of obtaining baby’s sex and/or obtaining images and video of your little one.

Yes.  Ultrasound is one means by which we are able to visualize internal body structures.  One area of Ultrasound is in the use of obstetrics.  Miracle In Motion utilizes the latest technological advances in ultrasound to help parents capture a glimpse into the world of their baby-to-be.  Ultrasound uses non-intrusive sound waves that cast a pulsed field of sound onto the underlying structure.  The reflected pulse creates an image.  A 3D/4D image is captured through ultrasound using the same sound waves and power level intensities as a traditional 2D ultrasound.  There is no difference between the administration and the effects on a developing fetus from a 3D/4D verses 2D imaging.  It is important to understand that ultrasound should only be administered by a registered sonographer and within a facility that has a proper quality control program in place.  According to the FDA, ultrasound has an outstanding safety record.  Miracle In Motion takes extra precautions to ensure the safety of both our clients and their baby(ies).  We use a GE Voluson E8 ultrasound machine to perform all of our ultrasounds.  This machine has been certified and approved by the FDA for the administration of both 2D and 3D/4D imaging on both mother and developing fetus.  Furthermore, all of our sonographers are extremely qualified in the administration of ultrasound and are registered through the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography).

The only difference between 3D and 4D is still images verses movement. 3D refers to the printed still shot images you will receive with the package you purchase. 4D refers to the real-time version of 3D. This is the actual movement of your baby. This is recorded  for you as a keepsake. All of our 3D packages are a combination of 3D and 4D.  You may add HD to your package prior to ultrasound begining.

We recommend getting an elective 3D/4D ultrasound between 25 and 35 weeks gestation or 6 to 9 months of pregnancy. You may receive a 3D/4D ultrasound as early as 17 weeks. The longer you wait to get your 3D/4D ultrasound the more “filled-out” your baby may appear and baby’s features will be much more defined. However, if you wait too long your baby may be in an undesirable position which may cause difficulty obtaining your images and video.  Since every pregnancy is different, there is no way our team can make any assumptions as to the images you will receive until we have accurately assessed baby’s position.  This is why we state an estimated “best” time frame above.

Yes.  We recommend that you are at least 15 weeks in order to give you an accurate determination.  In the instance that we are not able to determine your baby’s sex at the time of your appointment, we will bring you back at a later date free of charge.

There are many things that may affect the clarity and quality of your ultrasound. Fetal positioning is key in obtaining clear and accurate views of your baby. The amount of tissue and fluid surrounding your baby are also important in a successful ultrasound. A sleeping baby does not present many angles to work with so, the more active your baby is the better.  We recommend you stay well hydrated. Water should be consumed over a consistent period of time, this will help to increase the amount of fluid around your baby creating more opportunity for crisper images. To make sure your baby is active and alert we recommend drinking or eating a small amount of sugar before your appointment i.e. an apple, orange juice, or ice cream. Try scheduling your appointment around the time of day when your baby is usually most active.  This will increase the diversity of the photos and video you will receive.  It is important to understand we cannot guarantee  the quality of the images during your session. We will provide our best effort to obtain the most optimal images given all of the variables that are out of our control.

No. When scheduling an appointment through our elective side (Miracle In Motion) you will not need a referral from your physician.  We do, however; require proof of prenatal care.  This means that we need to be assured that you are receiving prenatal care through a physician and are not using an elective ultrasound from Miracle In Motion in lieu of a medical diagnostic ultrasound.  If you are unable to provide such proof you will be denied the ability to receive an elective ultrasound through Miracle In Motion.  You will be informed of the types of proof we accept by the receptionist when you call to schedule your appointment.

No. Elective ultrasounds are not covered by insurance. Their sole purpose has no medical connection to your pregnancy and therefore are not allowable under coverage of any medical insurance plan.  We do however, accept all Visa, Mastercard, or Discover credit cards and CASH as methods of payment.  Payment is due in full at the time of your appointment.  Be sure to check out our affordable package prices on our ultrasound packages and pricing page.

We ask that you do not bring any food or drink into our ultrasound room, this includes snacks for little ones.

Miracle In Motion does not offer refunds.  Our time and resources put forth trying to make our customers happy is worth something and for this simple fact, we do not offer refunds.  However, at the discretion of the sonographer we will bring you back if we are unable to get an ultrasound of good quality or clarity that fulfills the package purchased. All return visits are offered at no charge. We schedule return visits Tuesday through Friday until 5pm.  All return visits must be scheduled before you leave your initial visit and all payment is due at the time of your scheduled visit. There is a 2 week time limit on return visits. If you are unable to return in the post two weeks you forfeit the offer for a return visit.   It is important to understand that in no way is the sonographer responsible for your baby’s movements or lack there of, and/or their undesirable position.  We ask you are considerate and understanding towards the sonographer administering your exam, and understand they are putting forth their optimal effort to get the best images possible for you.

Women's Reproductive Ultrasound FAQ

At WRU we provide 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimester diagnostic ultrasounds to the expecting population.  These diagnostic ultrasounds are only administered with a physician’s order.  Purposes for a diagnostic ultrasound include but are not limited to:  due date determination, number of fetuses, fetal viability, assessing fetal growth, fluid level, fetal positioning, placental function and obtaining various fetal measurements.  All exams performed at WRU are administered by our ARDMS registered sonographers and are interpreted by radiologists of Summit Radiology.

WRU does not accept any insurance.  Our organization was established to help ease the burden of financial pressure from climbing deductibles or for those individuals who simply do not have insurance.  We price our services at an affordable rate.  The rate you pay is all inclusive.  You do not incur any additional interpretive fees, office fees, or physician fees from WRU.  We do accept HSA cards as long as they are Visa, MasterCard or Discover.  If requested, we can give you an invoice with the diagnostic code and charges for you to submit to your insurance company.

Ultrasound technology is used to accurately determine the health of your pregnancy and developing fetus.  The application of inaudible sound waves are reflected off of internal structures and returned to produce an image of desired underlying tissue.  In this case, images of a developing fetus are produced.  Ultrasound has no known adverse effects on patients or their developing babies.  This is why ultrasound is a great resource used by countless physicians and imaging facilities for early detection of potential fetal abnormalities and to better help insure the viability and health of any pregnancy.

Your physician will order the ultrasound and method of performing, based off of the information they are wanting to receive.

It is usually recommended that you have a full bladder for the purposes of increased visibility during and ultrasound; however, each case is different.  You will be instructed as to what you need to do at the time you schedule your appointment.

Summit Radiology interprets all of our exams.  All exams are submitted to Summit Radiology the same day the ultrasound is administered.  Your doctor will usually receive the results within 24 hours.

Your sonographer cannot disclose any information regarding the state of your pregnancy.  Although highly qualified to administer your exam, our sonographers do not interpret the results.  Your ordering physician will receive all the necessary information regarding the health of your pregnancy and fetal well-being and will disclose that information to you.

Yes.  We do not take walk-ins.  Each session is specifically tailored to your and your physicians requests; therefore, we require a specific schedule to better accommodate the needs of our patients.  We ask that you allow at least an hour for your appointment and you arrive on time.  If you are not able to make it to your appointment, we ask you notify us within 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.  If you are more than 15 minutes late to your appointment, we reserve the right to cancel your appointment so as not to inconvenience the patients scheduled in the following time slot.  Any “no show” will have a rescheduling fee attached to any subsequent exam at our facility.
